MEP Deck Solutions: Sole Disributor of Dynamica Rope

MEP Deck Solutions is being appointed the sole distributor of Dynamica Ropes in South East Asia and China. The durable ropes are produced in the state-of-art machineries in Fredericia, Denmark. They are made of HMPE / Dyneema® (SK 75) fibre supplied by DSM in Holland.

Properties of the rope:

High Breaking Strength – Dynamica Ropes are stronger than Steel wire ropes
of the same size.

Very Light – These are only 1/10th the weight of the Steel wire. Hence fewer crewmembers required for handling the ropes.

Compact –The ropes are passed through Dynamica Ropes patented "Heat Setting Process" hence Dynamica Ropes are more compact and have higher breaking strength than other ropes in its category.

Safety - Dynamica stretches very little (3-4 % at break). It stores little energy and hence has no lash backs in the unlikely event of breaking. However it may be very dangerous in case of any other types of ropes like steel wire.

Long life - UV Stabilisation gives the rope long and safe working life. It is not affected by oil or water and is just as strong whether used in dry, wet, cold or humid conditions.

Uniform PU Coating - Ensures ropes stability and abrasion resistance.

Easily Recoverable - This Rope floats on water (density – 0.98). Hence it is recoverable in the unlikely event of breakage of rope.

Balanced and Easily Splice-able - Dynamica Ropes are manufactured in 12 Strand Construction hence well balanced and Easily Splice-able.

36M Utility/General tug: NELSON II

In the last decade, ocean going barges have become important parts of the transportation system. MEP sees the acquisition and building of a small 36M Utility/coastal tug as a general purpose vessel to take advantage of offshore work, since many barges are used in the development and construction of offshore oil and gas fields that would require a tug of the size envisaged by MEP.

The 36M Utility/General tug is ideally suited as a prime mover for this diverse roll of transportation and towage, since it can be optimised for the main job of towing large objects cost effectively and safely, and able to work in the shipping or offshore industry doing towing, escort, standby and anchor handling for large accommodation/work barges.

Though it is a small compact tug, it is suitably equipped with MEP’s purpose built anchor handling gears, and latest communication and navigation gears without the bulk and cost of a normal anchor handling tug when working in the offshore fields.

The typical propulsion engines for such a small vessel are normally low profile type; light weight engines. Though such engines have the advantage of weight; the life span is often compromised like that of gas engine, and often times even less. In the case of MEP’s 36M Utility/General tug, the engines are medium speed heavy duty engines like that found in current large offshore vessels rigged out for continuous heavy duty work.

The 36M tug will be classed with Bureau Veritas with the notation 1 3/3E ? Supply Vessel Deep Sea Coastal tug, as a Singapore registered tug.

MEP is always looking at innovative ways to maximise its services to its clients through forward thinking and practical approach in coming out with solutions. For any interested party, please do contact us for more details.

MORDEC International Training Program

MORDEC International is pleased to announce the launch of our new Product Training Program aimed at improving and bringing greater awareness to having safe lifting activities. Proper rigging techniques and inspection of lifting equipment is crucial for lifting activities. The absence of safe rigging practices and the lack of training contribute to a large percentage of material handling accidents in Singapore and other parts of the world.

MORDEC Product Training Program, currently offered free for interested parties, will equip attendees with crucial product knowledge to assist them in determining the correct size and type of equipment required to safely perform lifting operations.

Scheduled classes are held at various locations throughout Singapore and customized classes can also be arranged at your facilities. Our trainers bring knowledge and years of experience to each training program. The training program covers and discusses various types lifting sling systems and equipment including webbing and round slings, ratchet lashings, load binders, alloy chains, shackles, hooks, master links, clamps, chain blocks, lever hoists and more.

For interested parties, please kindly contact us for further details.

58M AHTS Vessel

MEP’s 58m AHTS Vessel has a higher degree of out-fittings that are hard to find on other AHTS. Unlike most tugs built in China, over 90% of the vessel’s equipment comes from G8 countries, thus making it more superior in terms of long term performance.

1) Azimuth steerable nozzled propellers
2) Joy stick configured control
3) IBS control
4) Mini M
5) Differential GPS
6) Auto telephone exchange
7) Medium speed engines with lower noise signature
8) Plate coolers for main machinery
9) Remote sounding of all tanks
10) Auto synchronisation of power generators
11) FW maker

The above superior equipments installed equates to an extended work capability normally not associated with AHTS including the prospect of conversion to DP notation and easy adoption as a geophysical survey vessel. Therefore, the owner of this band new vessel will enjoy a higher market potential not limited to only anchor handling and supply operations.
